Day 1 – August 1, 2025 – Reykjavik [Depart 7 pm]
We had breakfast at the hotel and took a brief walk afterward in the rather blustery Icelandic morning. The sky looked threatening for rain, and it arrived shortly after returning to the hotel. Check-out time was 11 am and we decided to catch the city’s courtesy Cruise Shuttle across from the hotel. By the time we arrived at the Celebrity Cruise area, the rain had increased, and we were very pleased to have our luggage ready for immediate drop off. We were then ushered through the boarding process and aboard the ship much ahead of our official boarding time. No complaints there! Immediately we checked in at our muster station, were cleared, and headed to our mid-ship suite (#1615) on Deck 11. The room was great – actually a 2-room suite with a very nice balcony.
Don’t know if we will get much of a chance to use the outside balcony in 50 degree weather, but nice to have the large glass wall facing the sea. Also so nice to have a chilled bottle of champagne awaiting and welcoming us.
We headed to the Luminae restaurant for lunch. Bev had a burger and I the grilled Branzino – all excellent.
Lunch was followed by doing a walk-through of the ship to acquaint ourselves with the layout of the Celebrity Silhouette, which will be our home for a week. Returning to the room, we unpacked and just relaxed.
The Theater show, Boogie Wonderland, for tonight was 1970’s music and we decided to attend the 7 pm performance. Therefore, we went to dinner at 5:30 pm. Dinner was Burrata for an appetizer, grilled Turbot for the entrée, and chocolate grenache for dessert.
It was all absolutely delicious.
Boogie Wonderland was very good and quite entertaining with all the 1970’s music and acrobatic performers. As always, the Celebrity theater performances have a lot of light and sound.
Somewhere in the process of leaving the performance and getting back to the room, Bev lost her cell phone. Unfortunately, the phones are on airplane mode to use the ship internet and the “find my” feature is inoperable. We didn’t have any luck at Guest Relations locating it and will have to wait until the morning to begin a more extensive search. Hopefully it will be located or we will have to contact AT&T to see what needs to be done about locking down the phone. Being in airplane mode creates a challenge. UPDATE. Shortly after posting this, the phone was phone in the room. It had dropped down into the couch sleeper bed mechanism last night. Although I had looked down there with the flashlight, I decided to look one more time in the daylight and remove the cushions. Hurray; crisis is adverted!
Sounds like y'all are off to a great start on your cruise!! Your room is beautiful and so glad the phone was located!
